After almost 24–hours of searching for a missing Newport teen, the Coast Guard has officially suspended its search.

Even though the search has ended, 17-year old Teddy Oliviera's friends and family are still holding out hope that he's alive.

A huge group of Oliviera's family and friends gathered at King Park in Newport to support one another on Wednesday night, 2–days after the Newport teen was last seen alive on a small boat, in Newport harbor.

"It's just scary that they can't find anything, like I don't know how a kid can go missing out there and you can't find a damn thing." said Oliviera's cousin Trey Quinn.

Quinn helped organize the prayer vigil by getting word out through Twitter, using the hashtag, "Prayers for Teddy"

He was overwhelmed by the response.

"It's crazy, I never thought all these people would care you know? I mean it's a blessing to see." said Quinn.

Although the Coast Guard has given up the search for Oliviera, those at the vigil are still holding out hope of seeing him again, especially his girlfriend, Alexis Tertinek.

"He'll always be in my heart, no matter what and I pray for him every second of the day because he's everything to me." said Tertinek.
