A Providence family spoke exclusively to ABC6 Tuesday about their little boy who was killed after he fell from a second story window.

The 21 month old fell from the window in his grandma's apartment, last week. His funeral was Tuesday.

That grandma told us the little boy they like to call Marky Mark may have had a short life, but he left her with a lot of fond memories.

"He was my heart. My heart's broken," said grandma Sandra Hutchinson.

As rain poured down outside the her Providence apartment, Tuesday, tears fell inside.

"It's just a horribly tragic accident that happened to such a sweet, young, loving boy," said the grandma, "It just doesn't even seem right around here without him."

Hutchinson looked fondly at the smile she last saw two Mondays ago, when her 21 month old grandson Mark Anthony Daniel Junior fell from her second floor apartment window, 16 feet to the ground.

Mark's mom, Tommieka, was drawing him a bath and found him moments later.

"Like I said, in a split second," said Hutchinson, "We didn't even know the window was open. I was using that room as a storage area. We had just started cleaning it out, so it could be used."

Since that day, a memorial has continued to build outside their door. There were candles, stuffed animals and messages from family and friends for the toddler who'll now never see his second birthday.

"Thank God," said Hutchinson, "We had a few moments to teach him how to ride a bike, take him to water parks. He had a good time his last few day."

Even as the days go by, Mark's funeral is over and these candles remembering him are blown out, Sandra said his bright light will shine on forever.

"Everybody around here knew him, and he's going to be missed by the whole community," said Hutchinson.

Mark's funeral services were at The Bright Funeral Home in Providence.
