PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - An elderly woman has been killed in an apartment house fire.
Authorities say the fire broke out Thursday night at a three-story, three-unit apartment house in Providence.
The woman in her 80s was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Officials did not immediately release her name.
One firefighter was injured battling the blaze. Two other tenants escaped unharmed.
The Providence Journal reports it took firefighters less than an hour to get the fire under control. The cause is still under investigation.
