Two million dollars awarded for R.I. recycling

Cities and towns in Rhode Island are nearly two–million dollars richer thanks to recycling.

Thursday, the state's Resource Recovery Corporation handed out the money raised from the sale of recyclables.

The funds will help support recycling programs in each community.

Over the past year, the corporation handled more than 90,000 tons of recyclables.
