Foul mouthed cockatoo causes court battle

Willy the cockatoo and his foul mouth landed his owner in court Thursday night.

     Lynne Taylor, who lives on Harris Ave. in Warwick is accused of teaching her cockatoo to swear at her ex-husband's girlfriend, Kathleen Melker. Melker says Willy calls her a "whore."

     Taylor moved to dismiss the case in Warwick municipal court Thursday, a request that was denied by a judge. When they head to court again next week, Taylor could be facing a small fine under the city's animal noise ordinance. A judge did issue a restraining order, ordering both women to stay away from each other.

     Melker and her boyfriend, Craig Fontaine, are Taylor's neighbors, living just houses away from her on the water in Warwick. They say the cockatoo swears at them constantly. One time, they say, the slew of swears went on for 15 minutes.
