"I'm nervous," Katie says as she pretends she's shaking.

Katie's playfulness behind the scenes just before she heads out on stage in this test show is well Katie exactly how i found her in person and just as she'll tackle her new show.

"I think each show takes on the personality of the person doing it," Katie explains.

Becoming the first female solo anchor of the evening  news Katie looks forward to a more spontaneous, fly by the seat of her pants live format.

Where she can speak "with" the audience, not "at " it.

"I've dealt with a lot of things that I think people in the audience can probably relate to. I've lost my husband, I'm raising two girls on my own, I'm a working woman," says Couric.

The show will be a mix of ordinary people who do extraordinary things and celebrity guests.

Including one who has yet to answer an invitation.

" We understand you've invited Sarah Palin to be on the show," asks Karen.

"I have, I have," Katie answers.

"Any response yet?"

"Not yet, but you know I think she's a fascinating albeit polarizing figure."

Expect some recurring segments too like "YOLO," or you only live once.

The named coined by the hip hop singer Drake.

"I know you're a huge Drake fan," Katie says.

"Oh yeah, huge," Karen says.

"He actually is a great guy. I've interviewed him and he's wonderful," Couric replies.

In that segment, Katie will help viewers fulfill some lifelong dreams as well as a few of her own.

She wants to star in a broadway musical and have a date with George Clooney.

Ok. George. I've had enough of you.

Jeff Zucker,her longtime executive producer on the today show who now holds the same role on her talk, show calls it uniquely Katie.

"She's incredibly personable, incredibly relatable, and incredibly fun and then when you combine that with her ability to do a terrific interview and find out what people want to know, it's the perfect combination," says Zucker.

Zucker and Katie are quick to point out she's not trying to be the new Oprah, she wants to be the old Katie.

"When it comes to how I'm going to make my mark in this format, I'm just going to try to be who I am and do the best job I can," says Couric.

No doubt poised to become america's daytime sweetheart.
