Newport Police made an arrest following an assault on a woman walking her dog a few days back.
On October 12th a 42 year old woman was walking her dog just before 10pm on Ruggles and Carroll Avenue when a juvenile woman exited a car she was in and punched her in the face.
The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect to police who had several leads and were to make an arrest.
The 17 year old was arrested yesterday evening after 6pm and remanded to the Rhode Island Training School for arraignment in Family Court later today. She will be charged with simple assault.
Police say this was an isolated incident.
