The Rhode Island department of Labor and training announced today that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September 2012 dropped to 10.5 percent down two-tenths of a percentage point from the August 2012 rate and eight-tenths of a percentage point from the September 2011 rate.
The Rhode Island unemployment rate declined for the fifth-consecutive month, reaching its lowest level since April 2009.
The number of employed Rhode Island residents grew by 3,900 over the month, the largest monthly increase in recent memory.
Rhode Island based jobs increased 2,000 over the month, with the greatest gain reported in Professional and Business services.
