CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - A couple from Johnston has claimed a winning Powerball ticket worth $40,000 - on their 40th wedding anniversary.

The wife presented the ticket for Wednesday night's drawing at Rhode Island Lottery headquarters in Cranston on Friday. She told lottery officials she and her husband plan to spend the money on a vacation and to help their children pay off college loans.

She said they regularly play the same numbers using their family's birthdays.

Lottery officials didn't disclose the couple's names.

The winning ticket was sold at Convenience Plus on Atwood Avenue in Johnston.
