The latest ad for Jim Langevin says: "Who is millionaire Michael riley? (Riley says): ‘I am a wall street type. I worked on wall street."
It is a hard hitting attack ad from Congressman Jim Langevin against his opponent Michael Riley.
The mild–mannered Democrat is not known for negative campaigning, but says this year's GOP opponent is different.
Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) said, "Well for quite some time now, Mr. Riley has been out there attacking my record, and misleading voters in a lot of different ways. and so I am setting the record straight about what I am fighting for."
Langevin is just finishing his 12th year in Congress.
ABC 6 reporter Mark Curtis says, "The latest Brown University poll has is 49 percent for Langevin; and 32 percent for Riley. But 19 percent of voters are either undecided or supporting a third party candidate. So this race is competitive and that why so many attacks ads are flying back and forth."
The latest Michael Riley ad says, "Welcome to ‘Rhodopoly,' the game that has allowed the Congressman to live it up on you the taxpayer!"
Republican Michael Riley says Langevin has not done enough in Washington, for Rhode Island:
Republican Congressional challenger Michael Riley said, "The real deal is, he's been in for 12 years and he's got a lot of explaining to do. I am a guy that's trying to help and I think the public would like to see the differences in our approaches for the next two years. I don't think a 13th year works."
The Riley–Langevin race may be the most competitive the second district has seen in many years.
