Rhode Island is opening a new high school just for kids who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
The Anchor Learning Academy in Providence is the state's first recovery high school. It's designed to help students who have finished rehab focus on academics while continuing their recovery.
Today Governor Lincoln Chafee and other officials toured the school. Two of the students from Westerly and North Providence spoke about how the academy is helping them.
I've been through a lot of stuff in my life and I was away for a long time, and coming back it was tough to get back into the groove of things. Coming here I have other kids I can relate to who have similar stories," said one of the students.
The school is part of a two-year pilot program. Enrollment is capped at 20 students. So far there are only four teens there, but administrators expect that number to rise quickly.
