Kevin P. Brown of South Kingstown was fatally stabbed yesterday in Westerly after being involved in some type of altercation on Marriot Ave.
The police and fire authorities found him unresponsive in his car on a motor vehicle accident call, his car was reported to have hit a tree.
The Westerly Ambulance Corps pulled him from the vehicle and quickly determined he had suffered what appeared to be a stab wound. They treated him and transported him to Westerly Hospital. He was pronouned dead at the hospital a short time later.
Detectives on the scene spoke with witnesses who informed them of the incident on Marriot Ave. A Mandell W. Tripp of Westerly was brought in for questioning and charged with 2nd degree murder, and subsequently held overnight at police headquarters.
