NARRAGANSETT, R.I. - Police have apprehended three men thought to be responsible for a string of break-ins in the Scarborough Hills area of Narragansett during Hurricane Sandy.
On Friday, East Providence police arrested Matthew Andrade, 24, Mario Estrela, 18, and Joao Pacheco, 20, all of East Providence. Narragansett police detectives had identified these three men as suspects in the break-ins, which all occurred in the Scarborough Hills area, across from Scarborough beach.
At least one of the men was charged in a separate break-in on South Pier Rd., which happened on October 26, according to police.
Police say the majority of the break-ins happened on October 30, during and immediately after the worst of Sandy. Most of the homes were broken into through doors and windows, some of which were unlocked. Money, jewelry, and video game consoles were amongst the items taken.
