Rhonda's Blog DWTS Week 6

First a great big thank you to ABC for allowing those of us on the east coast that were affected by Hurricane Sandy to be able to watch last night's show.  I am so glad I was able to catch my favorite show even if it were a day later.

I am not normally a country fan but thoroughly enjoyed the country night theme, it added quite a bit of fun.  Little Big Town was a great opener for the show singing "Pontoon" accompanied by the Troupe.

Gilles and Peta's Cha Cha was incredible.  I thought they totally nailed it and expected perfect scores, however, hate to say it but Gilles solo was not his best.  It definitely could've used a bit more oomph.

Sabrina and Louis' Rhumba was breathtaking.  Her lines were perfect and she danced from her heart.  So glad they scored a perfect 30.

Kelly and Val's Tango was very well done but I think she appeared a bit too stiff in her upper body.  Great footwork and holds and loved the kiss at the end.

Melissa and Tony's Viennese Waltz was beautiful.  Her lines, footwork, everything was right on target.  Glad she is pushing through her neck injury and didn't give up.

Shawn and Derek's Cha Cha was not enough Cha Cha.  It was more country and lifts than anything.  I also felt that she appeared too stiff, especially in her solo but that could be due to her leg injury.  Well done, but not their best.

Kirstie and Maks' Rhumba was incredible.  She gets better and better every week.  She had great lines, movements, everything.  Quite the hip action in her solo despite Len saying he could've used more.  Her scores reflected that it was indeed her best dance yet.  Still say good for her for keeping up with the 'kids'.

Apolo and Karina's Viennese Waltz was by far my favorite dance of the evening.  It was poetry in motion.  The song was so beautiful and their dance was such a compliment to it. I loved how his solo introduced the dance so beautifully.  I am so glad to see another perfect 30 for the night and especially glad for Karina.  I think she is truly terrified since she fell during their hip hop.

Emmitt and Cheryl's Foxtrot was not the best dance of the night but definitely the best solo. Emmitt just looked like he was having so much fun!

The Freestyle group dance was performed to Big & Rich/Cowboy Troy f. singing 'Save a Horse(Ride a Cowboy)/I Play Chicken with a Train'.  I loved it!!  It looked like they all had so much fun.  Each team did a great job within the group as well as with their own individual freestyle.  My personal favorites were Gilles/Peta and Apollo/Karina but props to Kirstie and Maks for making it lots of fun and earning the 2 point bonus which is added to their score.

Thank you again to ABC for allowing me to not miss this great episode.  You can catch the missed episodes at the above link along with so much more.  Also, while you're on there, be sure to nominate DWTS for the People's Choice Awards 2013.
