People across Rhode Island had to break out their ice scrapers and brushes, to fight the first snowstorm of the season.
The storm knocked out power to several thousand homes and businesses. National Grid 5,400 customers were without power at the peak of the storm.
Nearly half were in Westerly, which was still recovering after getting hit hard by Superstorm Sandy. Crews will work throughout the day to restore power.
High winds also forced the temporary closing of several bridges in the region, including the Newport Pell Bridge to big trucks. It was back open by midmorning.
Drivers are reminded to take it easy because of now and rain combing to make roads slick.
ABC6's James Swierzbin has more on what early risers had to look forward to, as they woke up, this morning.
