An elderly woman is rescued from this third floor fire escape when fire breaks out at her apartment building in Fall River.

A dramatic rescue as a good Samaritan and fire fighters worked to save the woman. She was trapped on the 3rd floor of this apartment building on Rodman Street. Witnesses tell ABC6 that a neighbor head screams for help. The woman then climbed out on the fire escape where strangers came to her rescue.

"She wouldn't come down on the balcony. She just stood there. She was nervous. She was in shock," said Lucy Gouveia who's brother tried to help the woman to safety. "Thankfully the fire department had just arrived in time. So he was able to just keep her calm, at the moment, keep her up there until they arrived and were able to go up the ladder and grab her down."

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital. No word on her condition or what caused the fire.
