PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence residents who want to buy parking permits so they can leave their cars on city streets overnight may now do so at City Hall.
Providence has long banned overnight street parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., but the city earlier this year rolled out an overnight street parking program in some locations. Households may purchase up to two permits.
Unpaid tickets have to be paid to get a permit, and only cars registered in Rhode Island are eligible.
Guest parking passes are also available.
The permits are available during normal business hours at the Board of Licenses. They're also available at the Department of Public Works/Traffic Engineering office at 60 Ernest St. and at the Municipal Court in the Public Safety Complex.
