The state health department is cracking down on a South Kingstown pharmacy, shutting part of it down Tuesday.
This is on the heels of the deadly meningitis outbreak in Massachusetts, where a pharmacy sent out steroid injections contaminated with meningitis. Bayview Pharmacy in Rhode Island does not make those exact injections, but some like it.
The health department has now shut down those operations because of unsanitary conditions and poor record keeping.
"The fact that they're saying there's animals roaming or inside the pharmacy that may affect patient's safety or the quality of our product, I absolutely would dispute that," said owner Ryan Dyer.
The compound pharmacy owner, Dyer, admitted he's brought his dog to the office a few times, but said he'd never had a problem until now. He said this is the first time the health department has ever done an inspection. He's been open six years.
