School kids are seeing a different side of law enforcement this week.
State troopers and Providence police took some time away from their everyday duties today to kick off law enforcement week.
Officers from several agencies are visiting several Head Start type programs like the "Children's Friend Friendship Centers" all week and reading to kids.
"It's about building partnerships in the community with youth who really need to start their lives off on the right foot, so it's all about giving them the opportunity," says Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements.
The officers are also talking to the three to five year olds about safety, their jobs and what's fun about being a cop.
