PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Police on Friday arrested a husband and wife for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, within minutes of each other in two separate incidents.
According to state police, police stopped Stephanie Souza, 43, of Warwick, around 9:25 p.m. on Route 95-S near Cranston. State police took her into custody on suspicion of being intoxicated behind the wheel. When they took her back to the barracks, they breath-tested her and say she blew a .145 and a .138 on the second try.
Within minutes of Souza's arrest, her husband was stopped by police in Lincoln for a motor vehicle violation. Police say Michael Souza, 44, of Warwick appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. According to police, Mr. Souza was breath-tested and blew a .191 twice in a row, over two times the legal limit.
The husband and wife were arraigned at State Police barracks and were released into the custody of a family member.
