The court battle over Rhode Island's Pension Overhaul Law
is now headed for mediation. Superior Court Judge Sara Taft–Carter ordered the state
today to meet with the five unions challenging the new law.
The unions and Governor Chafee had said they were willing to
talk, but General Treasurer Gina Raimondo was against going to the
negotiating table. The judge will get an update on how things are going during
a hearing in February.
