Robbers pulled a three foot samurai sword and a kitchen knife on a store clerk in New Bedford. Despite that show, they only got away with 80 bucks and a couple packs of cigarettes.
The whole thing was caught on camera. A robber whipped out the Samurai Sword and attacked a clerk at the "Petro Mart Gas Station" in over the weekend
"We've had machetes, we've had a hammer I think one time, we've had little blades, we've had bats but never really a sword, sword, so it's a first for me," said store owner Tony Khalife.
The robbers were crouched down on the curb for several minutes waiting for customers to leave, and then they marched right in the store and attacked the clerk.
When one of the men pulled out the sword and the clerk fought back.
"He grabbed the sword with his hand and he realized it wasn't very sharp, so he started pulling on it a little bit," said Khalife.
He said in his 20 years in this business, he's never seen anything like this. He's just glad his clerk got away with just a couple bruises.
"A friend of ours, he got shot here trying to stop a robbery," said Khalife, "And that's the first thing that does come to mind, you know every time I walk in the door that's what I think about. We're glad nobody got hurt this time."
After that, he installed cameras and a panic button. Now he plans to add even more cameras and a gate near the cash register, especially since the two robbers are still on the loose.
