The slow economy is forcing a parachute making company in new Bedford to consider massive layoffs.
Some of the employees received their notice just days before Christmas. Niche incorporated, announcing it may have to lay-off up to 360 employees by February. Some of those workers have received, as required by law, lay-off notices.
Niche incorporated laid off 400 of its workers in April when it lost out on a major contract which lead to downsizing.
Now, company officials say they don't have enough business to keep its current workforce.Niche incorporated officials say they are working to get new contracts, they don't know whether the lay–offs will be temporary or permanent .
