ABC News is reporting that President Obama will nominate U.S. Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts to be Secretary of State. If approved, he will replace Hillary Clinton.
Kerry's departure will open up a Senate seat in Massachusetts, and Governor Deval Patrick can name a temporary Senator until a special election can be held. Among those being discussed as possible candidates for the Senate, are current U.S. Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) who lost his reelection bid in November to Elizabeth Warren. Vicki Kennedy, widow of Sen. Ted Kennedy, is also discussing running as a Democrat to fill the seat.
We will have details reaction tonight, on ABC 6 News at 5 and 6.
