Abreu Enterprises Recently Completed a Full Bathroom Remodel on a 1970’s Built Bathroom, Bringing it Up to Date with Unique Modern Features
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) January 01, 2013
What motivates homeowners to remodel their bathroom? According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Home Builders, the most common reason homeowners remodel their bathrooms is to repair and replace old components.
Abreu Enterprises recently completed a bathroom renovation for a residence in Sacramento County. “It had been over 40 years since the homeowner had done any updating to the bathroom,” said Ken Abreu, owner of Abreu Enterprises.
Since so much time had elapsed since any work had been done, Abreu Enterprises gutted the bathroom down to the bare studs. Before new drywall was installed and a fresh coat of paint was applied, they went to work insulating the walls for better energy efficiency and soundproofing. “Soundproofing is a great option for a complete bathroom renovation. When the shower is turned on, the rest of the house doesn’t have to listen to the water running,” said Ken.
The old vinyl flooring was ripped out so updated tile floor could be installed. The bathtub was also removed and replaced with a full shower. Abreu Enterprises had to special order 7 ft. tall glass doors for the shower to accommodate the towering height of the homeowner. Tile was added from ceiling to floor of the shower, with a 2x2 decorative tile row in the center. A Grohe Retrofit Shower System was installed for a luxurious addition.
The installation of a new shower required changes to the current window in order to preserve privacy for the homeowner. Ken cut out the window and reframed it for a smaller window at the top of the shower to maintain natural light. Abreu Enterprises re-wired the electrical work in the bathroom to accommodate an improved ventilation system and new lighting.
Tile countertops were added along with a new sink and fixtures, with a backsplash matching the decorative tile in the shower, put in above the sink. To maximize space, Ken installed a mirrored medicine cabinet above the sink and a pocket door, which slides into the door frame.
“The homeowner was seeking a simple bathroom design, nothing over-the-top, just an updated bathroom for guests,” said Ken. Now guests and the homeowner can enjoy all the modern renovations from Abreu Enterprises.
