A two car accident that happen at 5:15 a.m. Friday morning leaves one hospitalized.
The accident took place at the intersection of Route 1 and Wild Flower road in Charlestown.
The south bound driver went through a red light as another driver, who had the right of way, was turning on Wild Flower Rd.
According to police, the victim was struck on the driver's side of their vehicle. As a result of the crash the victim was trapped in the car and rescue crews has to use the Jaws of Life to get the victim from the vehicle.
The victim was conscious and alert but was taken by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver refused medical attention at the scene of accident but was later taken to South County Hospital by a family member with knee injuries.
