Suspected serial robbers arrested in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Police have arrested two men suspected of robbing a number of stores and committing other crimes in the Pawtucket area over a one-month period.

According to police, a tip led detectives to apprehend Robert Messier, 33, and Brendan Leblanc, 26, both of Pawtucket. Police say they arrested the two men January 3 after stopping a vehicle they were driving on Central Avenue.

LeBlanc will be charged in the following crimes and face the following charges:

  • Armed robbery of Dot's Clothing on December 7, 2012
  • Armed robbery of Town Mart on December 13, 2012
  • Armed Robbery of Metro PCS on December 18, 2012
  • Home invasion robbery at 12 Poirer Street on December 26, 2012
  • Robbery of Gulf Express on December 31, 2012
  • Armed robbery of Bestway on January 1, 2013
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery related to the home invasion on December 26, 2012
  • Breaking and Entering related to the home invasion on December 26, 2012
  • Possession of Clonazepam
  • Two unrelated outstanding warrants

Messier is facing the following charges and will be charged in the following crimes:

  • Home invasion robbery at 12 Poirier Street on December 26, 2012
  • Conspiracy to commit robbery related to the Metro PCS Robbery on December 18, 2012
  • Breaking and entering related to the home invasion on December 26, 2012
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Clonazepam
  • Possession of Alprazolam
  • Driving in possession of controlled substance
  • Driving on a suspended license

Police also recovered a fake gun at Messier's residence. Both suspects are being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
