Flames ripped through a Lincoln St. triple decker in Woonsocket Thursday afternoon.
"Within minutes the whole front end went up," said neighbor Charles Brehio.
Another neighbor, Bill Myers, was walking his dog when he smelled the smoke.
"When I went into the front I saw that a wicker couch was
on fire on the porch," said Myers.
The six family apartment building was evacuated. Everyone managed to get out safely. 2nd floor tenant Anna Olson rushed home when she heard the news.
"I was hysterical at work. My friend brought me here," said Olson.
Just when Anna thought all was lost fire fighters rushed into the burning building to save her dog, a Yorkshire terrier named Cassie.
"I can't believe they got her out. I can't believe they got
her out for me," said Olson.
Cassie, though shaken, is doing okay. A short time later a second rescue was made. This time it was a cat who was placed into the overjoyed hands of it's owner.
According to the building manager 13 people were displaced in the blaze including four children.
The cause is under investigation.
