EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Police say they have a 22 year-old Providence man in custody for a stabbing that took place around 2 a.m. Sunday on Bliss Street at Brightridge Avenue in East Providence.
Police say they believe a party in that area ended with a fight which spilled out onto the street, and that numerous people were involved.
Police say it's unclear what led to the stabbing, but a 21 year-old man, also of Providence, was stabbed in the abdomen and is recovering with non life-threatening injuries at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police say they have a man in custody believed to have allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife. If he's connected to the crime, police say he would face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon (knife), a felony.
