A Rhode Islander will appear on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" on Wednesday at10:30 a.m. on ABC6.

24-year-old Matthew Dolan of North Kingstown RI will appear on the program along with his mother Elizabeth Dolan who was his on air companion during the show.

During the appearance host Meredith Vieira told Dolan "I feel like we are related because we are both from Rhode Island." Vieira is an East Providence native and a graduate from Lincoln School for Girls.

Dolan is a 2006 graduate of North Kingstown High School and a 2011 University of Rhode Island Grad. He is currently working on his Master's degree at Virginia Tech.

Dolan has been a fan of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" for years and said his experience as a contestant on the program is surreal.

Dolan said if he wins on ‘Millionaire' he will pay off his student loan debt, get an apartment in Boston, and donate money to charities supporting brain research.

Dolan is specifically interested in brain research because he had suffered from a rare condition called a brain lesion and just a day before his 21 birthday he underwent a risky radiation treatment to remove a potential aneurysm and the procedure was a success.
