Overcrowding and break–ins have become a problem at the only animal shelter in Attleboro.
On the table, is a new million dollar shelter, but that'll come at a high cost to taxpayers.
They voice their concerns at a public hearing in Attleboro Tuesday night. Shelter volunteers said if they don't get a new space soon, they'll have to keep turning animals away.
"We are maxed out beyond capacity between kennel space, storage space," said volunteer Kim Penque, "People coming in here really have no place to move."
The city council will vote on the new 1.1 million dollar shelter in two weeks. If passed, the shelter will be built right next to the old one. It should be finished by this time next year.
