Bruins owner: Sorry about lockout
BOSTON (AP) _ Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs says he's sorry for the work stoppage that locked the NHL players out of their rinks for four months.
Jacobs said before Saturday night's opener against the New York Rangers that he's disappointed players and owners couldn't agree on a new deal until last week. He says the Bruins will try to make it up to their fans by playing hard and winning.
NHL owners locked the players out before training camp opened in September. The sides agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement last week. Teams will play a 48-game regular season.
Jacobs says he ``wanted nothing more than to have the season start on time.'' And he says: ``It should have.''
