Nine time U.S. figure skating champion Michelle Kwan tied the knot on Sunday to Rhode Islander Clay Pell.
Pell, 31, is the grandson of Rhode Island's beloved late Senator Claibourne Pell and the director for strategic planning on the National Security Staff at the White House.
The duo met while they were applying for a White House fellowship. Pell landed the gig, Kwan did not, but they both landed each other.
The 32-year-old Kwan walked the isle at Providence's First Unitarian Church in a wedding dressed designed by Vera Wang. Pell, who is a JAG and Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard, was in uniform as the pair exchanged vows.
Among the guests were Olympic medallists Brian Boitano, Dick Button, and Dorothy Hamil.
