Allison Sirois says that her family always questioned when the big tree next to their Victorian home on Highland Ave. in Fall River would fall. The answer to that question came Thursday morning, when sustained winds in Fall River peaked over 40mph and gusts were over 50mph.
"The first thing we noticed was the giant hole in the ceiling, and then we looked down and saw a 6–foot limb just laying on the bedroom floor." That limb landed just feet from where Sirois's parents were sleeping around 6AM. "The tree hit and then it continued to fall down, so it was a good five or six seconds that it was just shaking."
The tree service that came to remove the giant, thought the tree was at least 120 years old.
The family has lived in the house since 2001, Sirois goes on, "My father has put a lot of work into this house over the years, he literally just finished the front porch a few months ago and it's a shame to see all his hard work get demolished so quickly."
