No one likes to pay taxes.
But what if we could show you ways to save maybe hundreds of dollars?
This has become a big issue recently with Massachusetts talking about a drastic cut in sales tax.
Tonight on ABC6 News at 11, we look at the issue in, "Border Wars: A Taxing Issue."
Taxes! It doesn't take long before they really add up.
With Massachusetts and Rhode Island perhaps ready to do battle over sales taxes, we wondered about all the money raised thru taxes on. Big purchases, like furniture.
And on every day items such as alcohol, cigarettes and gasoline.
It turns out the total bill really matters to individuals and local governments.
Brooke Freidrich, who lives in Rhode Island but shops in Massachusetts said, "It's extremely important. I mean we have lots of things to buy and budget. We're both getting our careers started so saving money and building out future is very important."
Governor Lincoln Chafee said, "It's very important to our competitiveness. We don't want to lose revenue, by not being competitive."
So we went on a shopping spree along the Rhode Island Massachusetts state line to find out who wins in "Border Wars: A Taxing Issue."
So tune in tonight to ABC6 News at 11 and find out just how much we saved.
Also, we'll let you know if Governor Chafee and the General Assembly want to cut the Rhode Island sales tax to match the proposed cut in Massachusetts.
