Cleanup continues as blizzard winds down

***A BLIZZARD WARNING continues for Providence until 1 PM Saturday. Strong winds, heavy snow and low visibilities are occurring across all of southern New England. The storm is expected to stay strong through Saturday morning, with conditions improving into Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned to ABC6 as we track this developing winter storm.***

Winter Storm Headlines...

• Moderate to heavy snow thru Saturday morning

• Strongest winds (NE 25-35, G 50+ mph) expected late Friday night into early Saturday morning

• Total snow: 18-24" inland, lesser amounts along the coast. Also isolated areas of 24+" possible. T.F. Green Airport reported 10.1" snow at midnight, but no other reports had come in as of 9AM. An estimate for the total snow in Providence is between 18 and 20 inches.

• A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for much of the eastern Massachusetts coastline. Moderate to major coastal flooding is possible especially with Saturday morning's high tide around 10AM. As of late Friday night, several homes in Weymouth, MA had taken on water.

The snow should wind down by Saturday afternoon, with cold afternoon temperatures in the lower 20s and strong N winds at 15-25 mph, gusting to 35 mph. Expect wind chills near zero all day Saturday. Saturday night looks cold with lows near 5 above and wind chills below zero into Sunday morning. Sunny on Sunday with highs in the lower 30s and less windy conditions.
