A Cranston convenience store clerk fought off two robbers on Sunday night, and his primary weapon was a vacuum cleaner.
The robbers described as two black males between 18 and 20-years-old rushed into the Bestway Food Mart on Park Avenue with a shotgun demanding all the money from the register.
They started beating Keven Dellefave, but he refused to give in. Instead, Dellefave used the vacuum cleaner to hit the suspects and eventually chased them out of the store. They tried to open the register, but were unsuccessful, only making away with several packs of cigarettes.
Dellefave says he was only so confident at the time because he thought the gun was fake. However, after finding shell casings on the ground, he realizes how lucky he is to be alive.
The suspects fled the scene wearing ski masks and have yet to be arrested. There is some solid evidence, because as the robbers were being chased off, one of them left behind a backpack.
