A Portsmouth high school senior just shot her way into an elite group. She's one of just a few students across the country who snatched a spot on the rifle varsity squad at West Point.

18 year old Libby Mostert picked up a rifle at the age of 13 and hasn't put it down since. "I fell in love with it, " says Mostert.

She's put in hours upon hours of hard work here at the Newport rifle club, perfecting her skills, improving her aim and expanding her resume.  She's a two time Olympic junior champion in Rhode Island and is heading to the national junior Olympics in April. But her biggest achievement, is landing a spot on the varsity rifle squad at West Point. Come July, she'll be one of 8 members on the squad..

She'll make in impact from the beginning,  says her coach Michele Makucevich. Her coach says without a doubt, Libby will lead the team. "It's prestigious to make it just to NCAA it's just as hard a scholarship in shooting as to get one in football, " says Makucevich.

The high school senior admits, she's a little nervous. "Just periods of oh my god I'm going to west Point this is it! , " says Mostert.  But she says she made a goal, and never took her eye off the target. It's a dream come true, " adds Mostert.
