A judge has ordered that the cash strapped Central Coventry Fire Department to stay open and not be liquidated.
Taxpayers will not face the initially proposed tax increase but instead will continue to pay the same fire tax rate as last year.
Fire Fighters have agreed to $250,000 in concessions. In addition the judge has order the fire board to resign.
The fire department is struggling to deal with a $1.5 million clerical error and another $1.8 million in unpaid bills and employee pensions.
On Monday the taxpayers voted down a proposed tax increase to help the fire department with it's budgetary woes.
