A new study by the University of Vermont reveals that Rhode Island ranks 32 nationwide in happiness score according to Tweets.
University researchers sought through millions of tweets from 2011 to map out moods in urban areas across the country. They ranked each area based on how often positive and negative words appeared in tweets.
Maine, Nevada, Utah, Vermont, and Hawaii topped the list for happiest state, Louisiana was deemed the saddest state followed by Mississippi, Maryland, and Michigan.
The study reveals that unhappy states swear too much in tweets.
