The unemployment rate in Rhode Island has dropped to 9.8% marking the
lowest rate since January of 2009.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January is
down a tenth of a percentage point from December of 2012 rate of 9.9%.
The decreased rate was not the only positive news for the Ocean State.
The number of unemployed individuals in Rhode
Island declined by 700 in the month of January and
the number of RI based jobs grew by 2,800 over the course of the month.
The biggest job gains were seen in the Accommodation &
Food services business and the Retail Trade sectors.
