While just north of Providence, snow accumulated all day, here in Providence it was a different story. It was snowy, and windy but not much actually stuck.

The snow fell fast all day in Providence but with temperatures above freezing, the heavy wet snow didn't stick to the roads. Now as temperatures drop this evening, Rhode Island Department of Transportation is closely monitoring road temperatures.

Joseph Baker, Administrator at RIDOT says, "we're going to have crews out there, we are going to be monitoring the surfaces. They are actually forecasted to stay just above freezing but that's a fine line that we don't want to see anything freeze up."

It's the fine line between a slippery commute and roads moving along smoothly, either way Baker recommends taking it slow. "Conditions will be getting very close to where you could see freezing on the roadways and bridges especially so exercise caution while you're out there."

And with the storm lasting well into tomorrow, both this evening and tomorrow mornings commute could get slippery. Anne-Marie Beardsworth of the Rhode Island EMA says, "We know this storm is going to last through Friday afternoon, so we just want people to still be prepared for a winter storm."
