District Attorney Sam Sutter's office says a New Bedford woman who was found dead inside her apartment on North Street was murdered.

35-year-old Tiffany Ann Durfee, was found dead in her apartment by her mother on Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

Neighbors say Durfee's mother ran outside screaming her daughter was dead and a television was missing. Durfee's two young children were in the house at the time. Durfee has a third child who is a teenager.

The father of Durfee's children, David Andrews, was at the home on Thursday morning and said he could not understand why someone "would do something like this to a woman who is so caring."

He said he felt bad for his boys and that she did "everything for the children."

The cause of death has not yet been determined but an autopsy has been ordered.
