This afternoon, the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training announced that the state's unemployment rate for February 2013 was at 9.4%
January's unemployment figures averaged at 9.8%. While the rate is still high, a 0.4% decrease is seen as a significant recovery. Even more encouraging is that the rate has dropped an entire 1.3% from an average 10.7% in Feb 2012, and the unemployment rate overall, is at its lowest since December 2008.
RI's total labor force totaled in at 561,200, which is down 600 from January 2012, but up 3,000 from February 2012.
