Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School seniors Taylor Doyle and Ryan Magina have been best friends for years.
"Just really good friends. She's been through a lot with me," said Magina, 17.
With prom approaching Magina had a plan to ask Doyle to be his date to the big dance. It was a grand gesture no girl could refuse.
"I was a little bit antsy. A little pre–game jitters. But I wasn't nervous," said Magina.
Friday morning the teen placed dozens of plastic cups spelling out "TAYLOR" "WILL U" "GO 2" "PROM WITH ME" across four high way over passes in New Bedford. Doyle drove by, and when she looked up she couldn't believe what she saw.
"I was really surprised. I didn't think he was going to go so over the top," said Doyle, 18.
At the last over pass Magina met a speechless Doyle with balloons and flowers. She of course said...yes!
"The whole idea of us going to prom together was just a random thing, but I think it's good that we're so close," said Doyle. "We're going to have a good time together."
If Magina was able to pull of something like this to ask his date to the dance it makes you wonder what plans he has up his tuxedo sleeve for the actual prom night.
