The Hopkinton and Westerly Police Depts. came together in an investigation that led to the arrest of Rafael A. Cortez, who had 50 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, and 4 pounds of harvested marijuana in his residence.
Cortez was stopped in his Honda Civic in Hopkinton yesterday, and a search of his residence led to the discovery of the marijuana, as well as $17,000 in cash. The drugs and money were seized as well as his vehicle. Cortez was charged with "Possession of marijuana with intent to deliver/cultivation," and was held overnight at Hopkinton police headquarters.
Cortez was arraigned in court today. More information will come as it is made available
