2 Providence men arraigned on drug trafficking charges

Col. Steven G. O'Donnel, Superintendent of the RI state police reported that at approximately 4:00PM last Friday, Ramon Lugo Rentas and Jose Garcia made their first appearance in U.S.  District Court.

Both men were arrested at their shared residence in Providence on Thurs, April 18th, where authorities seized 80 grams of heroin, $6,500 dollars in cash, and a .38 Caliber revolver. The arrest was the culmination of an investigation by the "State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force," and the "High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force"

Both men were charged with "Possession with Intent to Distribute a Mixture and Substance Containing a Detectable amount of Heroin," and "Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin." Rentas was given the additional charge of "Possession of a Firearms in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Offense.
