Truck driver cited in Fall River school bus crash

A motorist in Fall River has been cited after a school bus accident in Fall River on Tuesday.

At approximately 3:45PM officers responded to the intersection of North Main St. and Wilson Rd. for reports of an accident involving a truck and a school bus.

The driver of the truck, 27-year-old Matthew Tavares of Fall River, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Eleven students aboard the school bus were transported to local hospitals for minor injuries and precautionary care.

As a result of the investigation conducted by Fall River Police Officers, Lt. Kevin Tetrault, Tavares was issued a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle Negligently and Failure to Stop at a Red Light.

All injured individuals were treated and released from area hospitals.
