Joey DeFrancesco will discuss his "Joey Quits" viral video and his efforts since the video to improve conditions for hotel and restaurant workers in Rhode Island.
DeFrancesco has worked with local lawmakers to push for a bill that restricts managers and supervisors from taking a portion of hotel and restaurant workers gratuity.
"This is a badly needed bill aimed at protecting some of our state's lowest paid employees. It's common sense that tipped employees making as little as $2.89/hour should keep their gratuities. It's outrageous that we continue to permit this form of wage theft in our state," said DeFrancesco. He says during his time at the Renaissance Providence Hotel while working in room service he was a victim of "tip theft."
The segment with DeFrancesco is part of a larger piece on 20/20 about workplace issues. It will air Friday night at 10 p.m.
