Fire crews responded to a vacant house engulfed in flames in Johnston at 2 a.m. on Monday.
Heavy flames were pouring out of the two-story home on South Onley Street when crews arrived. 35 minutes later fire fighters were able to knocked down the fire.
The fire is being investigated as arson and eyewitnesses say a man was seen fleeing from the scene shortly after the fire started
This is not the first time this vacant, boarded up home went up in flames. Fire fighters were called to the home in March to extinguish a fire. Police say it is unclear whether the two incidents are related but the matter is being investigated.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
